A Perfect Take

The directors black and white clip board shuts down

And the screen erupts in colour.

Take Two, Take Three, Take Four–

Take how many is needed for the perfect scene,

In this autobiography called existence.

You are the director,

The actor, producer, set designer and screenwriter,

Playing several roles in one production

Trying to find who you are meant to be.

Always striving for that perfect, final take.

The blackening of the screen and satisfied audience

Knowing that all the time, mistakes and repetitions,

Was worth it for that final round of applause

The collection of loving hands, united by your demise

The final closing click of your director’s board,

The end of colour and words

And the conclusion of the perfect take.
