Two Ways Of Searching

“I park, pause, take heed. Breathe. Just breathe and sit.”

Seamus Heaney, (The Blackbird of Glanmore)

*

The world is quite beautiful

When you look with your eyes

And not with a screen.

So, put down the phone,

Close the Facebook app and

Take in the beauty around you-

Beauty that needs no filter.

Take time to “park, pause, take heed”

Enjoy the natural and not the electrical

Write your poem in pencil, in silence,

Without the clicking of the keyboard

Travel the world on your feet to

Create a Google Map in your head.

Read books, not Wikipedia,

Buy a newspaper instead of reading

Yet another online article.

Take away the screen of false images

Blocking you from the real beauty

That technology is beginning to hide.
